On the Road Again

After a month of being stationary, at last I’m back on the road! It feels wonderful to be traveling again. I didn’t realize I would miss it so much.
I headed north to Texarkana TX and stayed at a COE (Army Corp of Engineers) park called Piney Point Park on Wright Patman Lake.

My campsite was on the bluff above the lake with the most spectacular sunsets

Serafina, my little mini Cougar😹

Since my campsite backed up to the lake I was able to drag my kayak down the hill to the water and take a paddle around.

It was so peaceful and relaxing. I love being on the water. You can see my trailer in the distance

I paddled down to the dam and saw this Great Blue Heron hanging out near the shore.
I found a park in town called Spring Lake Park and took Gable for a walk around. The park has some dark history.

In February 1946 a serial killer started targeting young lovers in secluded areas of the town at night. In April, the youngest victims, a 15-year-old girl and 16-year-old boy were shot to death in the park. In all, the killer murdered 5 people and assaulted 3 others. The killer was never found.

Loved the murals on this building

There is a nice trail that leads around the lake and park and Gable enjoyed trying to catch the ducks. Trying being the operative word.

Ducks, geese and turtles; Gable tried to get them all
The weather was pretty uncooperative the rest of the week (windy and rainy) so I didn’t get to do much of anything else. One night the winds were so strong I had to bring the slide in because I was afraid the slide topper would rip off. There were tornado watches that night so I didn’t get to sleep till 4am. Ugh! Next spring I will remember NOT to be in the south. The weather is just too unpredictable.
Next up is Little Rock!
