The Maine Thing

After nearly two months of travel, I finally made it to Maine! Alaska and Maine have been at the top of my bucket list since I started RVing back in 2021 and I'm so excited to explore this gorgeous state.

The first week here, we stayed at Christies Campground in Newport. My "road sister", Kate, is from Maine and just bought property here that she's going to put 2 RV pads on and eventually a small cabin or tiny home. We didn't do a whole lot except relax. It was nice to stay in one place for eight days and decompress.

Christies is right on Sebasticook Lake and has mostly seasonal sites. People leave their RVs here year around and come back every summer.

The first thing I learned about Maine, is ice cream is a really big deal! You know how in the south there's a church on every corner? Well, in Maine there's an ice cream stand on every corner. We took the girls for peanut butter pup cups and of course we got ice cream too.

Jeff and Kevin, a/k/a "the boys", got to Newport two days after I did. We went to Anglers for dinner to celebrate their arrival and the food was delicious. The boys are from New England also and bought the lot next to Kate's! They're going to be putting in 2 RV pads and a cabin also. Can you say free place to stay next time I'm here?

We celebrated America's 250th birthday at Ross and Kelly's camp (Kate's friends) on Great Moose Lake. Sage and Bailey had a great time playing in the water.

We steamed fresh lobsters and clams (I only ate lobster) and oh. my. gosh. there's nothing better than fresh, sweet, Maine lobstah!

Since it was the easiest to crack I went for the claw first

Next I went for the tail. It was definitely worth the work to get the lobster meat out

After dinner, Ross took me, Kate and Sage for a boat ride around the lake. It was Sage's first time on a boat and I think she liked it!

The next day (July 4th) they had a patriotic golf cart parade around the campground.

That night we had fireworks off the dock. Not bad for a small campground display!

Next time I head Downeast to the national park I've been waiting to see. You're not going to want to miss it! See you there...
